LETS KEEP PRAYING FOR KANU
Former Nigeria international, Nwankwo Kanu, has successfully undergone a corrective heart surgery over the weekend.
The surgery which was done at the Cleveland Hospital in Ohio, USA was performed during one of his routine yearly medical check-ups at the same hospital where the career and life-saving heart surgery was performed in 1996.
Coordinator of Kanu Heart Foundation, Onyebuchi Abia, confirmed in a statement that the surgery was successful and the that former Arsenal and Inter Milan forward has since left the intensive care unit of the hospital and is currently recuperating.
“He’ll be home in a few days’ time, I spoke with him Sunday afternoon and he confirmed he’s in a stable condition,” Abia said in a statement.
Kanu also expressed his profound gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for the honour he was bestowed with during the Centenary Award Ceremony in Abuja.
Kanu underwent a medical examination at his then club Inter Milan and it was which revealed he has a serious heart defect. He underwent surgery in November 1996 to replace an aortic valve and did not return to his club until April 1997.
